Vision, Mission, Objectives and Goals


To provide basic guidelines on governance, conduct and educational content that must exist in PRODI IHI, the founders also formulated the existence, vision, mission and objectives of the establishment of PRODI IHI FISIP Universitas Andalas, as outlined in the PRODI-IHI Establishment Manuscript which reads as follows:

1. A unitary state-owned institution that adheres to the ideology, constitution and laws of the Republic of Indonesia and is responsible for education in the field of International Relations. 

2. Balance between the understanding of the objectivity of science and the view of subjectivity as citizens and as religious people in its members and graduates. 

3. Integrating intellectual (academic), moral and spiritual intelligence in the mastery, development and application of HI science.  

After the IHI UA Study Programme ran for four years (2011), the formulation of the vision, mission and objectives of the institution was updated to anticipate new needs, accommodate the ideas of all lecturers, students and academic staff as well as to adjust to the vision, mission and objectives of Andalas University (Universitas Andalas),
as well as the vision, mission and goals of the Faculty of ISIP. 

Vision 

"In 2020 the International Relations Study Programme will become a leading and dignified institution for education and teaching, research and community service in the fields of global governance studies, global political economy and diplomacy in the Southeast Asian region"

Mission

1. Organising education and teaching in the fields of Global Governance (TKG), Global Political Economy (EPG) and Diplomacy (D) that are innovative, creative and adaptive;

2. Produce graduates who have the academic ability and competence to solve problems in the fields of TKG, EPG and Diplomacy;

3. Organising and producing research and community service that is useful, quality and sustainable.


Objectives

The mission above is derived into a series of objectives of the UA IHI Study Programme by paying attention to and considering its continuity and relationship with the law and the basic principles of the establishment of the Study Programme. The objectives of the UA IHI Study Programme are:

1. Produce human resources who have the ability to enter government and non-government institutions as experts in developing foreign cooperation, diplomacy and management of world bodies. 

2. Produce human resources who are able to create concepts, thoughts and theories that are applicable to solving international problems.

3. Manage human resources who are able to compete in the world of work at local, national and global levels.

Goals

With the above objectives, the objectives of the UA IHI Study Programme are to achieve the following targets:

1. Producing a quality education and learning process in International Relations referring to the Indonesian National Qualification Framework.

2. To have graduates with a profile of high academic ability, independence, discipline, responsibility and creativity so that they have reliable professional abilities in developing creativity and innovation in the frame of knowledge of International Relations.

3. Producing quality research products that are beneficial to science and support the independence of the nation based on International Relations Science.

4. Having a high spirit of service to the community and being able to help solve linguistic problems that arise in society and utilise the knowledge gained for the benefit of mankind in various aspects of life both locally, nationally and internationally.

5. Having institutional governance that refers to the principles of good governance and clean government.

6. Achieving the above goals is not easy, so the process of improvement/change is carried out thoroughly, gradually and in a planned and sustainable manner. Every period a process evaluation is carried out based on the quality targets that have been determined.
